I'm working on a training set to potentially teach an AI to draw technical diagrams from scans of existing bobbin lace, or to render photorealistic images from diagrams. My intuition is that a really good pairing of scan and diagram at 1:1 scale and resolution should do the trick. I'm collaborating with an AI specialist who seems to think the idea has legs. Here is the first data set. The first pair is in collaboration with lace artist Madeline Thoman who traced the diagram from some lace in the Smithsonian.
